Energy transition is currently vital for national
development. Brazil has successfully navigated the energy transition. The
country has achieved significant milestones through the development of large-scale
hydropower; the expansion of biomass, wind, and solar energy; and the
successful implementation of competitive electricity market policies alongside
mechanisms to incentivize private investment. These results reflect a long-term
strategic vision and the ability to flexibly leverage both domestic and
international resources to achieve sustainability goals. This study analyzes
Brazil’s energy transition policies, evaluates their effectiveness, and
identifies remaining limitations.
